Liga BBVA - Bayern raise Ribery price again

Club president Franz Beckenbauer said earlier in the week that it would take £80m to prise away the France international, but now general manager Uli Hoeness has raised the stakes even higher.

Hoeness said: "It was known to everyone we would sell him only before the 15th (July).

"We did not get the offer we wanted. A three-digit figure (in millions). We did not get it."

The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid all summer, while Manchester United and Chelsea have also registered their interest.

However, Bayern refuse to lose their star player for a knockdown price and have repeatedly declared that the 26-year-old will see out his contract, which runs until 2011, unless their valuation of the player is met.
