Bundesliga - Bayern, Klinsmann settle contract

Klinsmann, who surprisingly joined Bayern in 2008, was given a two-year deal until 2010 but was axed five matches before the end of his first season.

"Bayern and Klinsmann have mutually agreed today to immediately end the contract running to June 30, 2010," said the club on their website.

Both sides had agreed to keep details private, Bayern said.

A string of disappointing results that left Bayern with no silverware last season led to the former Germany coach's departure.

Jupp Heynckes took over for the remainder of the season, guiding them to second place and a spot in this year's Champions League.

Klinsmann has not been linked with any other Bundesliga club though some media reports have hinted the former Tottenham Hotspur striker could return to the Premier League.
