Coheed and Cambria set to play Auckland
28/03/2008 19:07:05
NZ Coheed and Cambria are a band that draws a wide range of comparisons from Rush to Pink Floyd. That is, they have a high pitched singer and their songs are fairly epic - epic is what you would expect from a band who writes about epic space adventures. As far as categories go it is hard to explain the music of Coheed and Cambria - even they find it difficult. In the music world it has been dubbed "progressive space rock" that is because their frontman Claudio Sanchez writes comics about space, and then his band writes music about what is in the comics.
The comics have sold out in New Zealand, but a collection is due out next month - in the meantime, Coheed have their first ever gig in Auckland tomorrow night.
No doubt it will be a big event, after all their latest cd was a big name: "Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume Two: No World for Tomorrow" - it sort of makes you wonder when the movie is coming out.
And if graphic novels are not your thing, you have always got the musical version to space out to.
