(6) Roque Santa Cruz: (Italy v Paraguay) - came on after 68 minutes: Did not look match fit but won a few headers. (5) Manchester United: Patrice Evra (Uruguay v France) - played 90 minutes: Skippered Les Bleus and got forward well enough. Booked early for cynical pull back. (6) Javi Hernandez (South Africa v Mexico) - came on after 73 minutes: An encouraging cameo from United's new signing. (6) Park Ji-sung (South Korea v Greece) - played 90 minutes: Scored in a third consecutive World Cup finals and put in an all-energy performance once again. (8) Nemanja Vidic (Serbia v Ghana) - played 90 minutes: Solid enough and could do nothing about the goal. (6) Newcastle: Jonas Gutierrez (Argentina v Nigeria) played 90 minutes: Exposed a couple of times but he was playing out of position at right-back. (6) Stoke City: Thomas Sorensen (Netherlands v Denmark) - played 90 minutes: No chance with the freakish own goal and unlucky for the second. (7) Sunderland: Paulo da Silva (Italy v Paraguay) - played 90 minutes: Was superb at the heart of defence alongside Antolin Alcaraz, barely putting a foot wrong. (8). (5) Tottenham: Gionvani Dos Santos (South Africa v Mexico) - played 90 minutes: Man-of-the-match performance and was at the heart of all Mexico's best moves. (8) Sebastien Bassong (Japan v Cameroon) - played 90 minutes: Solid but Japan hardly threw men forward. (6) Benoit Assou-Ekotto (Japan v Cameroon) - played 90 minutes: Started brightly but then continued to give the wall away. (5) Wigan: Vladimir Stojkovic (Serbia v Ghana) - played 90 minutes: No mistakes from the Wigan keeper and co do nothing about the penalty. (6) Antolin Alcaraz (Italy v Paraguay) - played 90 minutes: Very solid defensively and weighing in with a goal, he did his job and then some and looks a top signing for boss Roberto Martinez. (7) Wolves: Adlène Guedioura (Algeria v Slovenia) - came on after 82 minutes: Had no chance to shine.
