Jedward, the teenage Irish twins who irritated and entertained in equal measure with their energetic dance routines on thr hit "X Factor" show, have been dropped by record label Sony after just one song.

A spokeswoman confirmed a report in the Sun tabloid on Tuesday, headlined "Jed n' Buried," that the music major had parted company with John and Edward Grimes, 18.

Louis Walsh, their manager and a judge on the hugely popular television talent show, vowed to continue to work with the pair, whose vocals drew widespread criticism, including from fellow judge Simon Cowell.

"I'm completely committed to Jedward and I know they still have a great career ahead of them," Walsh said in a statement.

"The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland that they start straight after The X Factor Tour in April and I am in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

Jedward signed to Sony earlier this year in a bid to cash in on their fame, but debut single "Under Pressure," performed with veteran rapper Vanilla Ice, failed to make it to number one in the charts despite considerable hype and publicity.

It was beaten to the coveted slot by U.S. band Owl City, and the following week had retreated to number 12.
